Frisco/Dillon

The ultimate easy cruiser ride (at least in Summit County), this 13-mile round trip ride with 550' of climb on mostly gently rolling hills on the path takes you from the Frisco Marina across the Lake Dillon dam to the Dillon Amphitheater.

Caution: much of this ride follows a well-used path with many blind corners and may have many pedestrians on it. Please ride carefully through these sections, respect the pedestrians and signal as you approach them.

The bike path begins next to the cemetery at the Marina. The path winds around the shoreline of Lake Dillon passing the middle school and weaving around the wetlands. The path parallels the Dam road for a moment then heads back onto a separate rolling path with views of the lake on every corner. The path follows a series of up and down rollers passing the Heaton Bay Campground. Use caution when crossing the two access roads.

Again the path goes along the Dillon Dam road passing a parking area that explains the history of the Dam and then crosses the dam. Turn-offs for Silverthorne are on the left but continue straight ahead to the back of the Amphitheater. Be sure to stay on the bike path and avoid the pedestrian-only path that splits off from the bike path in this area.
