Summit Biking has undertaken a program to help interested youth of all levels get out on organized bike rides and improve their biking skills. 2012 will be our 2nd year.
Last summer, Summit Biking paid the camp fee for the May ACA Junior Road Camp in Empire, Colorado for 2 attendees. The camp was designed to provide a safe and structured environment for kids ages 8-18 to learn the basics of group road riding and racing...a perfect introduction to road cycling for young athletes.
Funding for this effort was made possible through Summit Biking's annual "Circle the Summit Ride."
There may be some weekend opportunities for kids to come ride and learn from professionals, but those won't be finalized for a little while. We will have some great mentors and adults to ride with kids along with new friends to ride with and get to know.
Some kids and parents may be thinking about new bikes and we can help! Scholarships are available to help with your new (or used) bike buys now. Also, we have some great partnerships with Podium Sports and other retailers that will help you make the most of your dollars; more to come soon on those deals. If you have a bike or parts that you would like to sell, please send me an email so we can get it into the hands of a new rider!
